We wouldn't be able to serve our members to the best of our abilities without the passion and dedication of our AFP chapter committees. They're also a great way for you to get involved with the chapter and network with others! 

Career Services Committee

Committee Objectives:
This committee oversees the following: facilitates the communication of career opportunities, plans career-related workshops annually, supports and promotes the national AFP website regarding career opportunities, provides resume career and counseling services and assist collegiate chapters in their efforts.  Committee members are asked to participate actively in one or more of these areas.

Marketing & Communications Committee

Committee Objective: 
The Communications Committee serves to increase the visibility and recognition of the Chapter as the leader in the knowledge and practice of professional fundraising and philanthropy. We are responsible for all internal/external communications, and work with other committees in promoting the benefits and programs of our Chapter. Areas of focus include chapter newsletter, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, website, and social media.

IDEA/Diversity Committee

Committee Objective: 
The role of the committee is to promote inclusion, diversity, equity and access among our members in order to attract and recruit from diverse communities such as the Hispanic, Asian, African American, Native American and LGBTQIA+ communities. The committee advances philanthropy by promoting a better appreciation of how culture and different values impact the way people give.

Education Committee

Committee Objective:  
To implement educational programs through special guest speakers, workshops and other programs, and through the dissemination of information in articles in the newsletter, handouts, etc, that foster the professional growth of chapter members and others in the field of fundraising. Committee members will help plan coordinate a variety of programs and events including monthly AFP luncheons, workshops and the AFP Audio Conference Series. Members will also help secure sponsorships to support AFP programming and publicize education programming for members.

Committee Description:
The Education Committee is responsible for implementing educational programs to foster the professional growth of chapter members and potential members in the field of fund raising. The committee ensures that such programs and materials are consistent with the values and ethics embraced by AFP.

Foundation Development Committee

Committee Objective:
To educate the membership about the importance of supporting the fundraising profession through their personal philanthropy, and for conducting an annual campaign to support the AFP Foundation as well as local educational programs. Committee members will also work with chapter members to solicit support for Every Member Campaign.

Committee Objective: 
To foster meaningful connections among Chapter members and nurture relationships, the role involves overseeing all aspects tied to membership engagement and mixers. This encompasses evaluating membership program data and maintaining regular communication with potential, existing, and former members through email, phone calls, and direct mail.

Philanthropy Day Committee

Committee Objective:  
The NPD committee is tasked with the comprehensive planning and execution of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Arizona Chapter's annual National Philanthropy Day event, held in November. Attended by over 400 nonprofit executives, board members, civic leaders, and philanthropists each year, the committee oversees all logistical aspects of the event.


Committee members volunteer their time to coordinate various critical elements, including but not limited to, the organization of the Leadership Awards and Spirit of Philanthropy Awards, marketing and communication efforts, event logistics, management of invitations and reservations, and day of event coordination. The committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless orchestration of this noteworthy event that highlights and honors outstanding contributions to the community.

Professional Mentoring Committee

Committee Objective: 
To develop curriculum and structured mentor program for new development professionals.

Committee members assist in the recruitment of prospective mentees and mentors, evaluate mentee candidate applications and select and match mentees and mentors for each year's new class, plan and prepare for each year's calendar of activities and events, and participate in the evaluation of the program.

Sponsorship Committee

The Sponsorship Committee works to secure sponsorships for the Greater Arizona Chapter's initiatives and events, including its largest - the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon. Sponsorship supports education, scholarships, and professional development that transform fundraisers' ability to raise resources for their organizations.

The Sponsorship Committee works to establish partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and consultants that benefit both the AFP and the local business community. This committee meets as needed.


Bethany Eggleston 
Chair – Government Relations

For our inaugural year, with a focus of AFP member education and collaboration, the Government Relation Committee engages with other AFP Arizona chapters, AZ Impact For Good, and local and state government entities with a goal of fostering relationships and encouraging AFP members to advocate for public policy issues related to philanthropy and fundraising. Committee members can look forward to playing a role in educating and informing members on important policies, promoting understanding of the legislative process, and helping to influence legislation and regulatory decisions.
