Board of Directors

James Plourde, CFRE, Campbell and Company — President

James joined the board of AFP because of his interest in forming a stronger sense of community among everyone engaged in the fundraising profession. “What we do is very meaningful, but it also is hard work. I’ve found fundraisers to be very generous in sharing information about what has and hasn’t worked for them. We can all benefit from having people around us with whom we can consult, receive support and form friendships.”

“I joined AFP South Sound almost five years ago because I was new to fundraising. I have stayed involved because I really value the programming, networking, and leadership opportunities that our chapter makes possible.”

"My involvement in the AFP South Sound chapter began as a way to learn from and really get to know fundraising professionals that I admire. It naturally evolved to board service when I realized the difference I could make in our local philanthropic community. Serving as a leader in our chapter has been incredibly fulfilling for me personally and professionally."

Al Hove, JD, Principal Counsel & CEO, PHOENIX RISEN Consulting — Secretary

"Over the past 30 years I have been fortunate to serve many nonprofits, in either a staff or consulting capacity. When asked to serve as an officer on the AFPSS board, I saw it as a terrific opportunity to ‘give back’ during a time of transition and great challenge for our profession. Our work includes the need to strengthen the skills and build the pipeline of the next generation of development professionals; and, AFPSS is at the forefront of these efforts."
