The Manitoba Chapter was chartered in 1996. We are one of 21 chapters in Canada and more than 200 worldwide. As fundraising professionals, we share a commitment to our profession that is expressed through our adherence to ethical standards and best practices.
Our association brings together individuals and organizations that serve their communities in many ways, through a variety of sectors, representing a wide range of demographics, each driven by mission statements that tackle some of society's most important issues.
As Manitoba repeatedly earns the honour as the province with the highest level of charitable giving in Canada, philanthropy here is thriving! All the more reason to have a vibrant and active professional association. Our members participate in regular professional development activities, certification training and education, networking opportunities and recognition events like the Manitoba Philanthropy Awards.
Through the hard work of our entire volunteer board and their committees, the chapter delivers programming that supports our members and equips them with the tools they need to be successful in this rewarding (and yes, demanding) work.
As the charitable sector continues to grow and evolve, our association has an important and leading role to play. Our Manitoba Chapter celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016. In the first two decades, our membership has grown to more than 200 professionals. Empowered by a growing membership, our local chapter is looking forward to building on the priorities shared by our colleagues in Canada and around the world: connecting more deeply within our richly diverse communities; providing more opportunities for career development and increasing awareness of AFP in our community.
