Welcome to the Central Virginia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals!

As a member of AFP, you have a unique opportunity to connect directly to other development professionals and nonprofit leaders throughout the Central Virginia region, as well as access to a broad network through AFP Global. AFP provides education, mentorship, career guidance, research, thought leadership, and much more.

This year, the Central Virginia Chapter aims to provide ongoing opportunities to learn, lead, and engage in meaningful ways. Our Chapter continues to adapt to meet unique circumstances and evolving challenges within the community, and our commitment to advancing the fundraising profession and supporting our members remains strong.

If you are not currently a member of AFP, I encourage you to explore our Chapter’s programming as well as resources available at AFP Global, and consider becoming a member today. We also invite you to become more engaged by learning more about the Chapter and volunteering on a committee.

Throughout the upcoming year, the Chapter will:

  • Continue to provide meaningful professional development opportunities with monthly programming
  • Continue to celebrate Central Virginia’s philanthropic spirit through National Philanthropy Day this November
  • Further the vital work of Chapter programs and initiatives that strive to create a more inclusive and accessible environment for all within the profession, including the Inclusive Fundraising Fellowship program and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA)
  • Form a new strategic plan that outlines goals to best support our members’ needs and enhance our Chapter’s impact
We hope that you will join us at an AFP program or virtual event soon. We encourage you to explore the Chapter website as well as resources offered through AFP Global. If you have questions, please contact me or Sarah Westphal, Chapter Administrator.

With gratitude,

Kate Boyles
President, AFP Central Virginia

AFP Central Virginia is committed to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A) in all Chapter activities.

  • 2022 Call for Monthly Program Proposals

You are invited to propose a program session for AFP Central Virginia’s monthly membership meetings in 2022. Meetings may be held in person in Richmond, VA or via Zoom, and we ask that your proposal please take either format into consideration.
Our goal for monthly programming is to provide relevant and meaningful professional development opportunities for non-profit professionals. Through our programming, we aim to encourage and support excellence in fundraising and to consider inclusion, diversity, equity and access in all that we do.

See the full program proposal guidelines for detailed information and a timeline regarding submissions.

We ask you to please address the following questions as you put together your program proposal:
    • Who is the target audience?
    • How relevant and original is the presentation?
    • How is inclusion, diversity, equity, and access linked to the topic?
