Welcome!

Hello AFP Central Virginia!

The AFP Central Virginia Board of Directors looks forward to a great year filled with a variety of opportunities to engage through monthly membership meetings, mentoring and scholarship opportunities, and many more intentional initiatives that will add value to the work you do you every day.

As your 2018 AFP President, I look forward to collaborating with an exceptional team of professionals that will serve as the 2018 Board of Directors. Specifically, I am excited to work alongside Amanda Kennedy, Immediate Past President, and Danielle Ripperton, President-Elect. We are committed to intentional conversations, high quality programming, and opportunities to connect in meaningful ways.

Please stay tuned for regular communication about our year of programming.

We want to hear from you, and we will see you soon.

Announcements

  • Call for Monthly Program Proposals

You are invited to propose AFP Central Virginia monthly program sessions for 2019.

Our goal for monthly programming is to provide relevant and meaningful professional development opportunities for non-profit professionals. Through our programming we aim to encourage and support excellence in fundraising, and we aim to consider inclusion, diversity, equity, and access in all that we do.

We ask you to consider the following questions as you put together your program proposals:
    ·      Who is the target audience?
    ·      How relevant and original is the presentation?
    ·      How are inclusion, diversity, equity, and access linked to the topic?

Proposal Submissions are Open to the Public
Submissions are open to the public, regardless of membership status.

    Educational Value and Promotional Materials
Presenters representing companies that provide services for a fee to non-profit organizations will be considered if the presentation topic provides overall educational value to our members. Sales statements and promotional material are not permitted during the presentation.

How does the selection process work?
The Central Virginia AFP Programs committee is responsible for collecting and reviewing program proposals. Once all proposals have been collected and reviewed, the Programs committee will present the annual calendar to the board for approval. Once the board has approved the calendar, presenters will be informed via email.

The following criteria will be considered when reviewing a program proposal:

How is the topic linked to our mission?
AFP Central Virginia's mission is to advance philanthropy by enabling people to practice effective and ethical fundraising.

Is the topic linked to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access?
Topics are not required to be linked to AFP’s IDEA initiative; however, priority will be given to proposals that reflect a strong link to this initiative.

Does the topic fall within one or more initiatives in our strategic plan?
    ·      To practice excellent fundraising.
    ·      To advocate for philanthropy as a regional value.
    ·      To celebrate joyful & ethical fundraising.
    ·      To nurture fundraising professionals.

Does the proposal address one of the following topics that have been identified as priority areas of interest for the Chapter?
Note: proposal does not have to address one of these topics, but priority will be given to those that do or that make a strong case for why the topic proposed is relevant.
