Dear AFP-CVA Members,
Happy New Year! The year 2026 is here, and with it comes our movement from conversations to commitment and action following a year (or two) of discovery, reflection, and growth. I am grateful for the strategic pause the Board of Directors embarked upon in 2024 and their diligence in 2025 to identify the best path forward to ensure our Chapter is proactively positioned to support the philanthropic needs of our region. The results led to our new strategic plan that not only focuses on our Chapter’s continued growth, but also our commitment to inclusion and providing relevant programs that challenge us, spark curiosity, and encourage collaboration for our collective success.
The new year also brings the return of our Inclusive Fundraising Fellows program and National Philanthropy Day. I am grateful for the Board Members and committee members for the time and dedication to see the revitalization of these programs. Stay tuned for more details for both programs and how you can get involved. And if you have an interest in being a part of the planning process for National Philanthropy Day, please email admin@afpcentralva.org.
As your new Chapter President, I want to thank you for your support and engagement as we move AFP-CVA forward with your needs and aspirations at the core of our decision-making. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Wishing you all a happy, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year!
Yours in service,
LaChelle M. Lewis, Ph.D.
Chapter President, AFP-CVA
