Why Do Donors Give? A Major Donor Panel Discussion (This session is now closed)

Who better to ask “Why do donors give?” than the donors themselves? Join us for a panel discussion about what motivates individuals to give and what they look for in the organizations that they support. 

The panel will be moderated by Kelvin Taketa, former President & CEO and current Senior Advisor at Hawai‘i Community Foundation. Panelists include: Larry Rodriguez, Bob Bean, and Elizabeth Rice Grossman. 

Breakfast will be available at 7:30 a.m. and throughout the event. The hour-long program will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Larry RodriguezPanelist Larry Rodriguez 
is a former managing partner of Ernst & Young, and though he is technically retired he serves and acts as consultant for a multitude of organizations including serving on the board of the Hawaiian Humane Society. 

Bob Bean_editPanelist Bob Bean 
previously owned and operated several local businesses including Alert Alarm of Hawaii, Ihu Nui Sports Fishing and Lopaka Hawaii Tours. He and his wife give much of their time and resources to local organizations, such as Hawaii Community Foundation, Hawaiian Humane Society, Honolulu, Museum of Art, Kapiolani Women’s Cancer Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii and Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, and Maryknoll School just to name a few.

Elizabeth GrossmanPanelist Elizabeth Rice Grossman 
is a Trustee of the Honolulu Museum of Art, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Hawaiian Humane Society. She also chairs the Dr. Richard Community Foundation. Past board positions include The Ronald McDonald House of New York, The Public Theater of New York (Trustee), and The Family Academy (Charter School). In addition, she has served as a Juvenile Probation Commissioner for the City and County of San Francisco, and was a member of the State of California First Five Commission.
