Summary

This position reports to the Regional Manager, Community Engagement and will work closely with the Donor Relations and Development team to provide support for internal and external

engagement with communities and donors. Demonstrated experience in planning, evaluation,

fundraising and volunteer management is required. This role will contribute to strategic planning and direction in order to diversify our donor pool and maximize fundraising opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Be public-facing in communities and represent STARS to donors and public; building support

and awareness for STARS in Alberta;

• Coordinating STARS presence at external community events;

• Arrange and make presentations to various diverse audiences as required;

• Cultivate new community fundraising events;

• Support the efforts of the Fundraising team: Sponsorship, Donations, Programs;

• Work with event suppliers and third-party planners as required;

• Stewardship of donors, always creating a positive experience and timely thank you’s;

• Assist in developing timeframes to facilitate successful completion of project activities and

deliverables through the development and management of a critical path;

• Maintaining all pertinent donor information in Raisers Edge;

• Understanding of ROI and Budget requirements;

• Support activities assigned internally with planning;

• Work closely with event committees, where applicable;

• Collaborate with community groups & organizations in fundraising initiatives to generate

funds for STARS;

• Ensure that community partners are adhering to STARS policies and guidelines and in

accordance with STARS branding, provincial gaming and CRA guidelines;

• Prospect communities and organizations for STARS to develop new events;

• Work with current event partners to further develop and build upon existing events;

• Coordinate cheque acceptance events and tours on behalf of STARS;

• Deliver presentations and thank you messaging when required;

• Identify prospective donors for event sponsorship and major gift pipeline;

• Provide in-person stewardship to donors, including delivery of Allies for Life plaques and

Impact reports, as well as preparation and delivery of presentations, as requested;

• Other duties, as assigned.

 

Requirements

• Experience using Raisers Edge and/or other relational databases;

• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;

• Excellent communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills;

• Proficient in the use of MS Office suite;

• Demonstrated the ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects

simultaneously by utilizing successful organization skills;

• Capable of establishing effective and professional relationships with volunteers and donors;

• Willingness and ability to travel and work evenings or weekends;

• Ability to work well within a committee structure;

• Applicants will have a post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, or

a related field;
