Who we are?

For 60 years, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in the field of fundraising. Serving one of the most diverse communities in the nation, the AFP-Greater Los Angeles Chapter (AFP-GLAC) is the leading community of fundraisers supporting the sustainability of all types of nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles – from social services to arts, higher education to health care, animal welfare to environmentalism. We are committed to providing quality professional development and education, positive member experiences, enhanced networking opportunities. We value and foster belonging, and represent the fundraising profession and nonprofit sector throughout the region. In 2023, AFP-GLAC is celebrating 55 years as a chapter.

AFP-GLAC has over 300+ active members who serve as development and foundation executives, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, prospect researchers, and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy. Our website averages 425 hits a day and our eNewsletter circulates to 1500⁺ people monthly. We are also connected to the largest network of fundraising professionals globally, with 30,000 members throughout 240 chapters.

Partners in Philanthropy (PIP)

AFP-GLAC’s PIP program provides companies, foundations, and individuals the opportunity to invest in a year-round sponsorship and marketing strategy with our chapter, while empowering and educating fundraising professionals within the Greater Los Angeles area. Event Descriptions

National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is celebrated nationwide each November. Join us for a day of learning and awards celebrating Philanthropy in Los Angeles. This in-person event attracts executive directors, development officers, board members and fundraising professionals from nonprofits throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.

Annual Holiday Mixer & Inspirational Luncheon is our in-person winter gathering to thank the previous year’s Board of Directors and introduce the new Board for the following year.

Monthly educational and networking events are either in-person or virtual gatherings for professional fundraisers across the region to learn, grow and build community amongst one another. Includes education sessions, round tables, advanced forums, and membership mixers. Besides NPD & the Holiday Mixer, up to 12 events are planned for 2023.
