In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month (May 1-31), AFP WNY is proud to partner with Compeer to offer Mental Health First Aid.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. It covers the following topics:

• Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

• Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges

• How to interact with a person in crisis

• How to connect a person with help

• Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care

• A 5-Step Action Plan (ALGEE)

*Please note: this is a BLENDED course. Each participant will be required to complete an approximate 2-hour online self-paced pre-work prior to May 6th. You will receive information from Compeer (katie@compeerbuffalo.org) on April 30th with information on how to access the Mental Health First Aid Connect Portal for this required work.*
