Be The Cause Campaign


Philanthropy has the power to transform society, and fundraisers, like you, play a major role in this process. The BE the CAUSE Campaign embodies the importance and impact of a profession that values ethical and effective fundraising in the world and works in the interest of the public good. The campaign demonstrates what fundraisers do and why we do it.

  • Because education, training, mentoring, and research empower fundraisers.
  • Because ethical and effective fundraising strengthen causes.
  • Because donors and volunteers supporting causes they value transform society.
Your gift is a strategic investment in your chapter and the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy, supporting key initiatives such as:

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
To attract fundraisers and donors who reflect the diverse communities of our society.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
To help fundraising professionals succeed at all stages of their careers.

Your Support


Your support of the AFP Foundation is above and beyond AFP dues. When you join AFP, you receive products, programs, and services in exchange for your membership. The AFP Foundation raises revenue for fundraising innovation to underwrite the creation of new or enhance existing programs and services—adding value to your membership. The AFP Foundation also works to raise awareness about the role and impact of fundraising in philanthropy to nonprofit leaders and donors and the general public.

There are several ways to give to the BE the CAUSE Campaign:

  • One-time Gift: donate online, mail a check, call with a credit card, or transfer stock
  • Monthly Giving: Make a recurring gift and become a member of the Alpha Society
  • Pledge: Make a pledge with a specified payment schedule

All donors are recognized by the AFP Foundation through online donor listings and in AFP’s annual report. Those giving $1,000 or more are also acknowledged on signage at the AFP International Fundraising Conference. On a local level, donors should receive a donor pin and additional recognition from their chapter. 

Donor Recognition Levels:
  • Steward's Club: $2,500-$4,999
  • President’s Club: $1,000-$2,499
  • Ambassador’s Club - Emerald Level: $500-$999
  • Ambassador’s Club - Ruby Level: $250-$499
  • Ambassador’s Club - Sapphire Level: $100-$249
  • Friends of the Foundation: $50-$99
