AFP NJ, Southern Chapter serves Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem counties in the southern-most region of the state. Chartered in August 2008, the NJ, Southern Chapter membership includes more than 50 fundraising professionals in healthcare, hospice care, social services, education, non-profit arts and culture, professional consultants and member associations. The AFP New Jersey Southern Chapter is acknowledged as a valuable, collaborative and representative resource by South Jersey’s non-profit community, and serves as a model for thought leadership around philanthropy in a diverse and welcoming environment.


We focus on delivering innovative educational programs and events to help you reach your goals. AFP NJ Southern Chapter is your link to professional networking breakfasts; roundtable sessions; programs for advanced executives, mid-career professionals, and those new to the field. A Certified Speaking Professional, AFP Master Teacher, CFRE, and Professional Life Coach (PLCC - UW Madison), she's received numerous awards, including the prestigious CASE Crystal Apple and AFP Outstanding Fundraising Professional. Her book, "Empowering Your Board to Serve as Effective Development Ambassadors," is a go-to resource for non-profit boards and staff alike.     The Leading Philanthropy Scholarship Application is now open!

    Applicants must be members of AFP and employees by a non-profit 501c (3) organization located int eh Greater Philadelphia Region or Southern NJ Region.

    As a community of inclusion, AFP seeks, embraces, and engages diverse individuals, groups, and organizations with a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, thoughts and cultures within the fundraising profession. We strongly encourage individuals from diverse groups to apply. 
    • Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional, or if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising. 
    • Candidate must agree to compete an online evaluation form about his or her experience at the Leading Philanthropy Conference. 
    • Only one individual from any local organization or institution may be selected.

  • How to Close Every Gift Before the End of the Year: Discussion & Workshop!

    October through the end of the year is always crunch time to make sure that you have the systems in place, with the right communications and outreach so that you can close all the gifts your worked so hard on all year. During this time, there are many competing interests to juggle: Reaching our donors in between the upcoming holidays throughout November and December; Giving Tuesday; End-of-Year mail campaigns; Special Events; and the day-to-day tasks of running the organization. Laura has created the right structure for you to master your calendar and optimize the ideal times when you can reach your supporters. Communicating with supporters when THEY are in the right frame of mind to have those meaningful conversations will maximize your success to CLOSE all types of gifts – Annual, Major, Planned, Endowment and Campaign. This will be a hands-on workshop so that all attendees can actively participate and walk away with an action plan tailored to their organizational needs.

    The celebration includes a breakfast buffet, an awards ceremony, and networking. 

     

    What is National Philanthropy Day?

    National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy – and those people active in our philanthropic community – have made to our lives, our communities, and our world. Each year, AFP honors individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced and inspired philanthropy locally and around the globe. 

    This year's annual celebration is recognized on Thursday, November 14th, 2024.
