Professional Fundraisers in Eastern Oklahoma with the Certified Fund Raising Executive® CredentialThe Certified Fund Raising Executive® (CFRE) credential was first awarded in 1981. CFRE International is an independent nonprofit organization with 22 participating professional associations. In June 2013, the CFRE became the first globally-recognized credential for fundraising professionals.
A candidate for the CFRE credential must be employed full-time as a professional member of a fundraising staff or as a fundraising consultant to nonprofit organizations for five years or more (1 point per month = 60 total points), OR employed part-time with at least 60 points earned within the past eight years. Job duties and responsibilities must consist of fundraising activities, resource development, and/or the management of fund development which results in generation of philanthropic support.
The four areas of performance that are measured are: Education, Professional Practice, Professional Performance (Funds Raised, Communication Projects, and Management Projects), and Service. The candidate completes the application and compiles documentation for submission to the CFRE organization. After the application is approved by the CFRE reviewers the candidate is eligible to register for the online examination. If the candidate passes the exam the credential is valid for three years. Re-certification requires an online application with a point system, and if approved the credential is valid for three years.
