NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY HONOREE NOMINATIONS

National Philanthropy Day is a program of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Central Texas Chapter, which recognizes outstanding achievements by individuals and organizations in the area of community philanthropy. AFP Central Texas is committed to the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access within the fundraising profession, the philanthropic sector, and throughout all of society. Awards are given in recognition to individuals and organizations whose lifetime or long-term achievements have made a significant impact on the Central Texas community.

2024 Award Categories

Communitarian of the Year- Presented to an individual who has contributed in meaningful ways to the advancement of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access through giving of time and talent in order to build community, encourage philanthropy and fundraising, and inspire others to action and/or greater awareness.

 

Lifetime Achievement - Presented to an individual, family, or organization that has demonstrated a lifetime record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, has encouraged others to assume civic or charitable responsibility.

 

Philanthropist of the Year - Presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity within the past year, who, through direct financial support, has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles on a community, national and/or international level.

 

Outstanding Community Service Organization - Presented to a community service organization that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to philanthropy through community involvement and/or financial or in-kind support.

 

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser - Presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in coordinating groups of volunteers for major fundraising projects of more than one not-for-profit organization.

 

Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (ages 5 - 18)  - Presented to an individual youth or youth group (age 18 and under) with a proven record of exceptional generosity who has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, thus encouraging others toward philanthropy.

 

Outstanding Fundraising Professional - Presented to an outstanding fundraising professional who practices his/her profession in an exemplary manner, has been in the field a minimum of 5 years, and is a current AFP member.

 

Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation - Presented to a private, not-for-profit organization, civic, or professional association that has demonstrated outstanding commitment through financial or in-kind support, encouragement, and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.

Selection Process

The awards Committee is made up of AFP Board members, and a scoring rubric is used in determining the recipient of each award. All categories will be awarded having met the selection criteria. Submissions must be completed by July 1, 2024, and honorees will be notified by August 15, 2024.

Criteria & Guidelines for Nominations

  • Please review the selection criteria for your award category before starting your application.
  • Nominations must be submitted by July 1, 2024
  • Nominees must operate, live or do business in the Central Texas Region.
  • Nominations for each award must be submitted by an individual or organization within the Central Texas Region.
  • Nominees should not be nominated for an award for which they received within the last two years. Please refer to our website here for the 2023 and 2022 recipients.
  • Honorees must be present at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on Wednesday, November 13, 2024,  to receive their award. The Luncheon will be from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.
  • Each submission must display the nominee’s commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of AFP.
