Scope: Focuses on transformational giving, including, but not limited to planning, identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors/prospects benefiting MBPCC and Foundation. Will work under supervision of, and in collaboration with the Chief and Senior Development Officer; responsible for a portfolio of major and planned gift donors and prospects who will benefit MBPCC and Foundation 


1.       Implements strategies of the Take the Fight Forward major gift initiative to meet annual & comprehensive goals

2.       Responsible for planning, identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewardship of a portfolio of major donors and prospects to benefit MBPCC and Foundation; manages a list of 100+ prospects across all markets

3.       Completes a minimum of 10 major gift solicitations ($25,000+) per year; conducts a minimum 250 in-person visits annually and provides timely written database reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities

4.       In collaboration with the Senior Development Officer and Chief Development Officer, provides support for major gift donors and prospects in each of the cancer center markets

5.       Special projects as directed by the SDO, including research of future cultivation, engagement, and solicitation strategies for identifying prospects and support around planned giving marketing programs for future capital campaigns when developed and launched


  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of major gift fundraising experience required
  • Experience with project & campaign management with emphasis on major gifts from individuals, organizations, and corporations, preferably in a healthcare setting, preferred
  • Planned Giving experience preferred
  • CFRE preferred
  • Familiarity with Greater Baton Rouge, Southeast Louisiana and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Foundation
  • Donor database experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
