CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS for the 2023 Maritime Fundraising Conference
For over 35 years, the Maritime Fundraising Conference has been the touchstone for strengthening and growing our not-for-profit community! As Atlantic Canada’s largest fundraising conference, MFC strives to be on the leading edge of what is happening now, while preparing us for the future. Express your interest to join a sub-committee here: Register
MFC would not be possible without the dedication and effort of our volunteers. We need YOU to:
- create and implement an engaging and memorable, accessible and diverse, inclusive and informative Conference
- organize and connect with sponsors, delegates, speakers, and Industry Award nominees and nominators
- network and build relationships with fellow NFP colleagues and industry partners
- lead and move our Sector forward as we aspire to be the best we can be
NEW one-day symposium format - in-person or virtually, includes an evening social and annual Industry Awards. In an effort to be mindful of our limited financial and human resources, as well as keeping access, diversity and inclusiveness top-of-mind, MFC will alternate yearly between our traditional two-day event and this new one-day format.
Conference Theme - “Building Back Better” and “The New Way Forward” - what do they really mean!? Our inspiring National Philanthropy Day (NPD) panel dissected these phrases and started the conversation for moving toward strategic action and positive change. The momentum continues as we build toward MFC 2023, beginning with a 3-part webinar series in partnership with the Impact Organizations of Nova Scotia (IONS) in early 2023.
MFC 2023 will be a call to action for our colleagues in the Impact Sector/Social-Purpose Sector to put diversity, inclusion, equity and access (IDEA) to practice and commit to working more collaboratively with each other, with funders, government, and industry partners to identify and eliminate barriers. Sharing Tools to Build Success. MFC will move us toward making commitments to lending support to each other, building partnerships, breaking down barriers and working hand-in-hand to successfully deliver our respective missions.
We are stronger together. Find out more about how you can pitch in to help build our NFP Sector and meet the challenges of today and tomorrow -- please express your interest here and join us at our Kick-Off Meeting later in January. There is no commitment if you attend this meeting. You don’t have to be an AFP Member to participate. There are several committees to choose where you’d like to focus your skills or learn new ones!
Your MFC 2023 Co-Chairs,
Daisy Cobden and Vanessa Burns
Land Acknowledgement:
We would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet), and Passamaquoddy Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1726. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wəlastəkwiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
