Power of the Purse returns for its 13th year to once again improve lives in Olmsted County on Tuesday, June 12, 2018! This year's keynote speaker features Shannon Huffman Polson, one of the First U.S. Army Women Apache Helicopter Captains and Pilots pushed barriers both personally and physically. It is just a normal day in the office when you are one of the first women commissioned to fly Apache combat helicopters in the United States Armed Forces. Shannon Huffman Polson served on three continents and led two flight platoons and A-Line company.
In the midst of her breakthrough role as female helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army, Polson learned lessons on leadership, courage, teamwork, and above all the importance of GRIT - that personal dedication and strength which exists at the intersection of purpose and passion. Polson's blog, "The Grit Project," is a compilation of empowering narratives about women and leadership.
Power of the Purse is annually presented by United Way of Olmsted County's Women United – a giving circle of women leadership contributors whose collective, caring power is building a healthier, stronger community.
