For the first time ever, five generations of donors are active in the philanthropic marketplace.  Learn the giving patterns and values of each generation and how you can best work with donors of all age groups, particularly new generations of donors. This session will explore why generational understanding is important, identify and describe the generational differences and their impact on giving, and highlight the impact the emergence of Millennial and Gen Z donors will have on your work with individual donors in the coming years.

Learning objectives:

  • The impact of generational values and life events on giving.
  • To identify and describe the generational differences of the Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X, Boomer, and Silent/Great generations and the impact on their giving.
  • A deeper understanding of how Gen Z and Millennial donors differ from previous generations of donors and their anticipated impact on philanthropy and fundraising best practices.
  • How to customize development activities in work with donors from each generation, particularly emerging generations.
