About the Presenters:
Simone P. Joyaux, ACFRE, Adv Dip is described as "one of the most thoughtful, inspirational, and provocative leaders in the philanthropic sector worldwide."  In January 2018, Simone began her 31st year as a full time consultant specializing in fund development, strategic planning, and board development/governance.

She speaks worldwide, enjoying the opportunity to work with colleagues in places like Mexico City,London, Paris, Italy, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Slovakia...She also teaches in the philanthropy graduate program at Saint Mary's University, Minnesota, USA.

She's written three books:  Keep Your Donors (co-authored with Tom Ahern), Strategic Fund Development (now in its 3rd edition), and Firing Lousy Board Members. She's contributed to several others books, is archived in the Nonprofit Quarterly, and blogs as Simone Uncensored.

Joyaux has founded two nonprofits and serves regularly on boards. She's a former chair of CFRE International, Past Chair of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, and also chaired the Advisory Board for the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy in the U.K.

Tom Ahern:  In November 2016, the New York Times called Tom Ahern "one of the country's most sought-after creators of fundraising messages."

He specializes in applying the discoveries of psychology and neuroscience to the day-to-day business of attracting and retaining donors.  He's authored five well-received books on that topic, with two more in the pipeline.  Each year, he trains thousands of fundraisers internationally through conferences and webinars.

He is an award-winning copywriter and journalist.  Current and recent clients for direct mail, capital campaign case statements, audits and training include Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, the Anchorage Museum, Sharp Healthcare (nonprofit hospitals in San Diego), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (USA), Oxfam AU, the Gettysburg Foundation, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, Lollypop Farm, Friends  of the Mississippi River, Connecticut Forest and Park Association... and dozens more, large and tiny.
