Description: The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Greater Tri-States Chapter are proud to announce internationally known speaker, Penelope Burk, will be joining us in Dubuque on October 23.

Ms. Burk will present two sessions on donor stewardship and engaging a younger generation of philanthropists.

In her first session, Fewer Donors; More Money, Burk unfolds a compelling strategy for raising more money in an environment where competition is increasingly severe and donors are much more independent. This evidence-based session draws from her latest research with 27,000 donors and covers:

  • What it takes to focus the attention of your best prospects and improve the quality of acquisition programs
  • How to grow net revenue sustainably with fewer donors
  • Finding the ideal balance between acquisition and renewal in a changing giving environment
  • From observer to investor: the amazing transformation among new donors that fundraisers seldom recognize
  • Why one in three donors – including those giving most generously -- are holding their philanthropy back
  • Over-communication: how to improve retention and revenue by lifting your finger off that “send” button

Burk will also present, Under the Radar, drawing from current research with over 20,000 donors, Burk explains why young donors’ strong commitment to philanthropy is not translating into more loyal and more generous giving and what fundraisers can do to turn that situation around. She will discuss:

  • How fundraisers can capitalize on young donors’ optimism about the future by communicating a different message
  • Why young donors are critical to improving stagnant or declining donor acquisition programs
  • How young donors connect giving and volunteering and what that means for not-for-profits and their Boards
  • Which fundraising beliefs and practices create a barrier to giving for young donors and how to make quick and cost-effective changes that will make it easier for young people to give
  • How a donor-centered model is vital for retaining young donors and inspiring them to give more generously sooner.

Burk will also have both of her books, Donor-Centered Fundraising, and Donor-Centered Leadership, available for purchase and autographs. We will be one of the first groups to purchase her new book. Join us for this exciting and informative conference!
