Greetings AFP-GLAC Colleagues,
Thank you for your participation with AFP-GLAC this year! I have been so excited to see the wonderful turnout of members and guests at our events. What a happy problem that nobody wanted to leave the table-top discussions focused on major gifts, strategic planning, and more! Please join me in thanking Mauria McPoland and Heather Tunis for securing an array of terrific speakers for AFP-GLAC.
I think of AFP as two distinct entities: AFP International, and AFP-GLAC, which is our chapter. Each entity has an annual fundraising campaign to help support scholarships and other programs and initiatives. The “Be the Cause” campaign raises funds for AFP International (our goal is $10,000), and our GLAC “Chapter Fund campaign” supports--you got it--our GLAC Chapter (our goal is $4,000). Please join me in making an annual gift to each campaign. And for “Be the Cause” let’s do it April 15. Here’s why:
Blackbaud will match $10 for each of us making a gift to “Be the Cause” on April 15 and 16 (first 500 gifts). Let’s take advantage of this matching gift opportunity! Can we score $1,000 from Blackbaud by having 100 members make gift on April 15? That would be 10% of our chapter’s quota for the “Be the Cause” campaign. I say, go for it! I’m going to mark my calendar for April 15 and put in the web link: https://afp.ebiz.uapps.net/PersonifyEbusiness/Default.aspx?TabId=231. We will send out an email reminder that week to everyone too. Thank you in advance!
We have wonderful programming over the next few weeks. I look forward to seeing you on May 1st at the City Club for “Transformational Gifts” and on May 15th at the Cathedral for John Kobara of the California Community Foundation. For career planning input, attend the Young Professionals’ evening event on April 12. Lots of exciting activities to come, and it’s you who bring this chapter to life.
Cynthia Nickell, AFP-GLAC President 2018
