Join the AFP Greater Arizona Chapter's Diversity Committee for an exciting panel discussion on incorporating IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) principles into your everyday professional and personal life.

With the goal of ensuring organizations build a culture of inclusion and support people of all abilities, we will host a panel of leaders from the community to share how organizations and leaders can better recruit and retain diverse team members, confront bias, and foster equity and inclusion in the workplace.  In addition, this session will also include the panel’s perspective on engaging diverse donors with specific funding priorities.

Carlos Galindo Elvira, Regional Director, Anti-Defamation League
Guy.jpgCarlos Galindo Elvira is the Arizona Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). In this role, Carlos is responsible for fundraising, program delivery, leadership development, communications, government relations, fact-finding/research and office management to advance the ADL’s mission within the state of Arizona. Carlos formerly served as Chief Development Officer for Valle del Sol, a non-profit agency providing healthcare, human service and leadership development programs.

Carlos was a Special Assistant to former U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini in the areas of civil and human rights, Department of Justice, and Hispanic and Native American affairs. Carlos served as Mayor for the Town of Hayden for the term ending in June 2005. Carlos is a graduate of Valle del Sol’s Hispanic Leadership Institute (Class of 2000). Carlos was also selected as a Fellow by the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust in 2012. Currently, Carlos is a member of the Arizona Jewish Historical Society Board of Directors and a member of the Phoenix Police Department’s Jewish Advisory Board. His personal and professional background gives Carlos Galindo-Elvira unique views on leadership, advocacy, and service to community. Carlos is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BA in Spanish.

Nichole Cassidy, Director of Philanthropy, ACLU of Arizona
headshot.jpgNichole Cassidy is Director of Philanthropy for the ACLU of Arizona where she is responsible for planning, supervising and executing the major gifts program. She has over 13 years of experience in establishing and directing fundraising opportunities for Arizona nonprofits. Nichole is passionate about sharing her knowledge of fundraising with grassroots and community organizations looking to build their fundraising capacity and has worked with organizations including Puente Human Rights Movement, Trans Queer Pueblo, and Equality Arizona. She serves on the steering committee for the Center for LGBTQ Philanthropy at the Arizona Community Foundation and is a board member with Poder in Action.

Nate Rhoton, Executive Director, One-N-Ten
Rhoton.jpgNate Rhoton is the Executive Director at one•n•ten, bringing over fifteen years of corporate management experience and ten years of nonprofit fundraising and development expertise to the organization. one•n•ten envisions a world where all LGBTQ youth and young adults are embraced for who they are, actively engaged in their communities, and empowered to lead. Together with a team of eighteen staff members and hundreds of volunteers, Rhoton seeks to enhance the lives of the youth served by providing empowering social and service programs, promoting self‐expression, self‐acceptance, leadership development and healthy life choices
Formerly, Nate served for the last twelve years as the operations director of a local construction company, where he worked to expand corporate community involvement and non-discrimination protections to LGBTQ employees.

Born and raised in Arizona, Nate graduated from Flagstaff High School and then pursued a bachelor’s of science degree in economics from Arizona State University’s WP Carey School of Business in 2000. Over the last decade, Nate has committed himself to nonprofit service, serving four years on the Arizona steering committee of the Human Rights Campaign, the board of the Greater Phoenix Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, The Melonhead Foundation, and as the co-chair of the board of directors for Equality Arizona.
